Don't believe it when people tell you minimal means plain
Don't believe it when people tell you minimal means plain - or that handmade means fragile. I know where it comes from. We're shaped by what we see. By what gets praised. By what feels "worthy" of being on display.
Hi, HalliHallo, and Assalamu alaykum, it's Conny from MINKO HOME.
I grew up in Germany - clean lines, simple and functional spaces, no loud colours. But over time - as I entered new spaces, new cultures - I noticed something.
For many, beauty is loud.
Big. Gold. Heavy. Shiny.
If it doesn't sparkle - it's not worth displaying. If it's not expensive-looking - it's not presentable.
And maybe there's nothing wrong with that. But I knew it wasn't me.
Because while I admired the richness of it... I found myself falling in love with something softer.
Homes that felt calm. Decor that didn't need to be grand - but felt meaningful.
I don't believe in decorating for status. I believe in building peace.
I wanted my home to feel like me - gentle, warm, and full of presence. Not performative. Not heavy. Just honest.
What MINKO HOME Means to ME
My pieces aren't made to impress anyone. They're made for you. To comfort you.
That's why I keep them soft. Some are neutral. Some are a little bolder. Rooted in culture, yes - but not loud. Not forced. Not for show.
The Truth About Handmade
And as for the myth that handmade means fragile... That one makes me smile.
Because I work with cast stone - a material I mix myself. I sand, seal, and finish each piece right here.
It's a strong material. Fire-safe. Durable. Free of toxic fumes. The kind used to make fireplaces - not just trays and burners.
So no - it's not fragile. And no - it's not boring.
Quiet Beauty, Quiet Strength
It's quiet beauty, quiet strength. Made for women who know that peace is luxury... And that not everything valuable has to shine.
To me, that's the most beautiful kind.
